The American Civil War Confederate Navy Officer Visored Cap represents one of the rarest forms of American Civil War naval uniform headwear. Worn by commissioned officers of the Confederate States Navy (CSN) during the years 1861–1865, this cap symbolized authority, rank, and naval professionalism during a defining era of American history.
Because the Confederate Navy was small and operated under severe material shortages, officer uniforms—especially visored caps—were produced in very limited numbers. For this reason, original Confederate naval officer caps are today considered extremely rare and are usually found only in museums or advanced American military collections.
Influenced by European and British naval traditions, this visored cap features a structured crown and classic visor profile appropriate to mid-19th-century naval service.
