How to Measure Your Head
- Grab a soft measuring tape or a piece of string (like twine or a shoelace) and a ruler or measuring tool
- Wrap a soft tape or string around your head to measure about 1/4 to 1/2 inch above your ear and about 3/4 to an 1" inch above your brow line (see image)
- Mark the tape or your string, where it intersects, with your finger.
- Record your measurement in inches or centimeters (centimeters is often more accurate)
- If you're using a string, run it along side the ruler as many times as necessary to get a complete measurement
- MEASURE AGAIN!
- Always measure more than once until you get the same number twice
- Find your size in the chart for the perfect fit

The Victorian Era British Norfolk Regiment Forage Cap – 1881–1902 is a historically inspired headwear piece reflecting the standard undress and barracks cap worn by British Army soldiers following the Childers Reforms of 1881. During this period, regiments were reorganized and officially designated by county titles, with the Norfolk Regiment serving as a key infantry unit of the British Army.
Forage caps were worn primarily for daily duties, barracks wear, and informal occasions rather than for parade or battlefield service. This style became characteristic of the late Victorian British Army and remained in use through the years leading up to the Second Boer War. The cap’s practical design provided comfort while maintaining a smart and disciplined military appearance.
This forage cap follows the traditional late-19th-century British military pattern, featuring a soft, rounded crown and a short visor, consistent with period examples used between 1881 and 1902. Such caps would typically display regimental identity through badges and detailing, reflecting pride and unit affiliation within the British infantry.
Original Norfolk Regiment forage caps from this era are now scarce and are usually preserved in museums or advanced military collections. This historically respectful reproduction is well-suited for collectors, Victorian-era reenactments, educational displays, museums, and theatrical or film productions requiring accurate British Army attire.
