The Italian Fascist fez was a rigid black felt cap, worn as part of the official uniform of the MVSN (Volunteer Militia for National Security) during the WWII era. Inspired by the Ottoman fez, it was adapted into a uniquely Italian design and served as a formal symbol of rank, authority, and organizational identity within the Blackshirt units.
Made from sturdy black felt, this fez often features gold eagles, braided cords, tassels, and side insignia, reflecting the wearer’s position and seniority. While similar in shape to North African fezzes, it is distinct in its color, decoration, and militarized purpose.
